This is a genuine Victorian pickle castor by Rogers, Smith & Co. of Meriden, Connecticut, marked and numbered 130 on the underside, circa 1880 to 1900. An entire silver-plated stand built to hold a jar of pickles is exactly the kind of gloriously over-designed object that makes antique dining collections fun. Honest disclosure: the glass insert has two hairline cracks on the bottom, tested and currently holding water without leaking, and the original tongs are missing. Heavy authentic patina, never polished.
